“MIRADAS” is a photographic project featuring portraits of actors and actresses. Its focus is on the depth of the eyes, aiming to capture the precise moment when the subject connects with their innermost feelings and emotions, conveying a side of themselves that engages with the viewer.
This work stems from the fascination aroused by actors and actresses who are media–known. Faces that are familiar to us as they form part of our own cultural identity,
both for the stories they portray and the way we see ourselves reflected in them. Hence this voyeuristic desire to know the person behind the character. What remains hidden behind the screen or on stage comes to light when the gaze
This work stems from the fascination aroused by actors and actresses who are media-known. Faces that are familiar to us as they form part of our own cultural identity,
both for the stories they portray and the way we see ourselves reflected in them. Hence this voyeuristic desire to know the person behind the character. What remains hidden behind the screen or on stage comes to light when the gaze
and expression align with a specific emotion, which–through photography–remains frozen in time to be observed and pondered: this is the bond established between the viewer and the artwork.
The art of portraiture is about trying to reveal the essence of another person, their way of being and feeling. In acting, various masks are assumed which, when worn too often, can make one forget their own face.
For this reason, each session was an artistic dialogue between the actors and actresses and the photographer, a joint, playful, and spontaneous search to find a gaze that brings to light the essential.
This photographic project is a minimalist proposal that seeks to highlight faces, gestures, and movements using black and white. Its aesthetic is modern and creative, with beauty at its core, synonymous with the art of photography
